CHICAGO – As Honorary Chairs of Library Card Sign-up Month, “Toy Story 4” characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Bo Peep and friends are appearing in print and digital graphics to promote the value of a library card. The “Toy Story 4” crew is also being featured in customizable library card artwork.

All the free graphics and artwork can be downloaded through the Library Card Sign-up Month Toolkit (an account is required but registration is free, and anyone can join). Sample tools including a proclamation, a template press release, radio PSA scripts and social media posts are also available for libraries to use. The tools remind the public of all the resources available with a library card.

To receive up-to-date news and happenings about Library Card Sign-up Month, join the Library Card Sign-up Community in ALA Connect. It’s a place to help brainstorm ideas and share best practices. An account will need to be created, but ALA membership is not required to join.

A variety of “Toy Story 4” posters, stickers and bookmarks can be purchased through the ALA Store at alastore.ala.org.

In “Toy Story 4,” coming to theaters nationwide on June 21, Woody has always felt confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

Since 1987, Library Card Sign-up Month has been held each September to mark the beginning of the school year. During the month, the American Library Association and libraries unite in a national effort to ensure every child signs up for their own library card.
