About the Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship An annual award consisting of $1,000 and a gold-framed citation, honoring an individual for contributing significantly to the general public’s recognition and appreciation of librarianship,  outside the usual awareness of activities expected of a professional. These skills engender admiration for the profession as critical to the 21st Century, attract  broad attention, and perhaps inspire career choices by others.

Award and Frequency

An annual award consisting of $1,000 and a 24k gold-framed citation of achievement.
This award is given out on an annual basis.

Eligibility

The applicant shall be anyone in the field or related to the field of librarianship. This will include publishing, library related technology, programs and services.

(any individual who adds to public perception and appreciation of libraries should be commended so that can be anyone in the field)

Selection Criteria

  • Provide evidence and example(s)  of specific (and significant) contribution(s) made which led to increased public appreciation and recognition of librarianship.
  • Provide recommendations and impact statements from those who benefitted from the individual’s work(s).
  • Provide outcome(s) of individual’s contribution(s)
  • State and prove how award grantee will continue to contribute to the increased understanding and awareness of librarianship.
