I am reading "Behold the Dreamers" by Imbolo Mbue and "Well-Read Black Girl: Finding Our Stories, Discovering Ourselves" by Glory Edim. Also, listening to Dianna Hobbs' daily podcast is a must for me.

I value ACRL's reputation. Joining ACRL was a no-brainer after repeatedly hearing other librarians talk about how beneficial being a member was to them. Now a member myself, I greatly appreciate the quantity and wealth of important information that ACRL provides. As I strive to continue to learn and to do my job well, I am confident that I can look to ACRL as an important asset to help me achieve my professional goals.

As an academic librarian, I make it a point to establish a warm, open space for the campus community by interacting with them in a friendly and respectful manner in an effort to ensure that they know that they are heard and that I am here to assist with their academic endeavors. I encourage enthusiasm for the library's resources by creating engaging outreach programs and I am dedicated to developing a robust and accessible collection.

I always wanted to be that person who said that they loved their job, that they would do their job even if they were not being paid for it and becoming a librarian has allowed me to do just that. I wish that I had pursued this career twenty years ago. But I am here now and I am proof that it is never too late to bet on yourself.
