The National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards (NAHYP) are the Nation’s highest honor for exceptional out-of-school time arts and humanities programs. This work takes place in a diverse range of settings, and some of the most successful models are presented by libraries across the country, in both rural and urban communities. In keeping with YALSA’s mission, NAHYP supports the belief that high-quality library programs offer safe, productive, and creative spaces for young people by offering meaningful, ongoing learning experiences in the arts and the humanities during those times when youth are most vulnerable—after school, in the summer, and on weekends.  In this three part series participants learn about creative youth development (CYD) and how to implement CYD services in their libraries and with their communities.

Part 1: What is CYD and how are libraries implementing CYD in their libraries and communities.

Part 2: How libraries are connecting with youth through Creative Youth Development humanities—history, literature, social science, and journalism - based programming.

Part 3: What is the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Awards, how can libraries apply, and what are the selection criteria?
