Photograph of Stephanie BarnabyMy name is Stephanie Barnaby and I'm the new chair of the Publications and Communications committee of the Intellectual Freedom Round Table. I'm also serving IFRT as one of the Social Media Coordinators.

Indicate your connection with ALA: Who is your staff liaison, committee or section chair? Where do you work?

Our (IFRT) staff liaison are Kristin Pekoll; Ellie Diaz; Jamie LaRue; and Deborah Caldwell-Stone. There contact information can all be found on the IFRT's Executive Board roster page.

I currently work at the Fineman & Pappas Law Libraries at Boston University School of Law in Massachusetts.

Do you have hobbies, pets, a Facebook page? Add appropriate subheads above each paragraph.

I love animals but Boston apartments aren't really ideal for pets; one of my roommates has cats though! Some fun facts about me include:

  • I'm vegan,
  • I'm a huge Doctor Who fan,
  • I've been getting pretty into yoga lately.

For more information about Doctor Who, you can look at the BBC's website. If you would like a teaser about Doctor Who you can read through the Doctor Ipsum that regenerated below.

A Fun Song

Doctor-ipsum People spend all their time making nice things and then other people come along and break them! No idea. Just do what I do: hold tight and pretend it's a plan. What? What?! WHAT?! Two wrongs don't make a left turn. I love humans. Always seeing patterns in things that aren't there. Let's go in! Sorry, I'm going to have to relieve you of your pet. Shut up, I was talking to the horse. Low tech? Grace, this is a type 40 TARDIS, able to take you to any planet in the universe and to any date in that planet's existence. Temporal physics.

Powerful! Crush the lesser races! Conquer the galaxy! UNIMAGINABLE POWER! UNLIMITED RICE PUDDING! Et cetera! Et cetera! Don't you think she looks tired? You see when I started, all those years ago, I was just running. I called myself the Doctor but it was just a name. Then I went to Skaro. And I met you lot. And I understood who I was. Like Alice, I try to believe three impossible things before breakfast. Oh, the pointing again! They're screwdrivers! What are you going to do? Assemble a cabinet at them?

I was being chased by a giant dinosaur, but I think I've managed to give it the slip. Oh, you've got a dinosaur too! Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority. Well, who are you boys? Oh, of course! Are you his companions? I had to face my fear...that was more important than just going on living.... Jo, you’ve got all the time in the world… and all the space. I'm offering them to you.

Would you like a jelly baby?

It was on the planet Skaro that my old enemy the Master was finally put on trial. They say he listened calmly as his list of evil crimes was read... and sentence passed. Then he made his last and I thought somewhat curious request. He demanded that I, the Doctor, a rival Timelord, should take his remains back to our home planet, Gallifrey.
