The exhibit sponsors encourage libraries on the tour to host at least 1-2 field trips for local schools, 1-2 events for K–8 children in out-of-school time programs, 1-2 family events, and one public event.
The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory would also like each library on the extended tour to help them pilot a new program called “Scientists on Reserve,” which features live teleconferences with astronomers and other scientists. The Observatory will work with each library to get them the materials they will need to take part in the “Scientists on Reserve” program at no cost to the libraries.
