CHICAGO — Due to continuing concerns over the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the 2020 Arbuthnot Lecture in Sacramento, California, featuring Neil Gaiman and originally scheduled for Friday, May 8, has been postponed. The lecture will be rescheduled to a future date to be determined.

The decision to postpone the lecture was made after consultation with Neil Gaiman’s team, organizers at the host site in Sacramento, and ALSC’s 2020 Arbuthnot Lecture chair. ALSC’s top concern is ensuring the health and safety of all lecture attendees, our lecturer, and all staff working this event. In further support of this decision, on March 15, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended the cancellation or postponement for the next eight weeks of any events with an expected attendance of 50 or more people.

ALSC will provide further information about the new lecture date when it becomes available and appreciates everyone’s patience as the updated lecture details are planned out.
