Librarians Residing Outside the U.S. Have the Opportunity to Receive up to $2,500 for Conference-Related Expenses

IPSWICH, Mass. — The American Library Association (ALA) and EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) are partnering to offer three scholarships to librarians residing outside of the United States who are looking to attend the 2019 ALA Annual Conference & Exhibition.

This year’s conference will take place from June 20 – 25 in Washington D.C. These scholarships will allow librarians from across the globe to take advantage of the conference’s professional development, educational and networking opportunities.

Each scholarship will provide up to $2,500 to defray the cost of conference registration, travel and expenses. The scholarship recipients will be honored by EBSCO and ALA representatives during the conference at a breakfast hosted by EBSCO.

The application deadline is Jan. 1, 2019, and entries will be evaluated by a jury designated by ALA. Candidates must be an ALA member and submit an essay that answers the question: “Libraries, librarians and researchers become more technologically sophisticated every day. What challenges do you hope technology can address in the next five years to meet the needs of librarians and researchers?”
