CHICAGO — The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has selected Gina Seymour, School Library Media Specialist at the Islip (New York) High School, as its next ALA Liaison. She will start her term on July 1, 2019.

“I am extremely honored to represent YALSA and sincerely appreciate the opportunity to serve our professional organization by building upon the deep efforts of strengthening ties, which benefits our colleagues and patrons.” said Seymour.

Seymour will represent YALSA in various American Library Association (ALA) groups and committees both virtually and in person at ALA’s Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference. During her term, Seymour will work to strengthen ties between YALSA and ALA by sharing information between groups, representing YALSA's interests to ALA, and seeking opportunities for collaboration. She will also receive travel funds to offset costs of attending both the 2020 Midwinter Meeting and 2020 Annual Conference, up to $1,000 in total.

Applications for the ALA Liaison volunteer position are due April 1 of each year. Funds to support this effort are provided by Friends of YALSA. To learn more or donate, visit www.ala.org/yalsa/givetoyalsa/give. Learn more about YALSA’s awards and grants at https://tinyurl.com/YALSA-awards-grants
