CHICAGO—ALA Publishing eLearning Solutions announces an exciting new workshop, Cataloging Judaica: Diving into History with Sheryl Stahl. This workshop will last 90 minutes and take place at 2:30pm Eastern/1:30 Central/12:30 Mountain/11:30am Pacific on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. This workshop is a collaboration between ALA Publishing eLearning Solutions and the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL).

This session covers many aspects of Judaica cataloging, including major time periods of Jewish and Israeli history; the development of the different streams of Judaism; Jewish institutions, such as synagogues, schools, and social service organizations; and multi-disciplinary topics.

This workshop is geared to individuals with some background in cataloging but will not assume any Jewish knowledge. It will focus on cataloging in a MARC environment using RDA and the Library of Congress subject heading and classification systems. The presenter will also share her favorite tools for Judaica cataloging. It will not cover Jewish Sacred texts, which was covered in an earlier workshop, or Jewish arts (literature, music, art), which will be covered in future sessions.
