Receiving the Peter Lyman Memorial/SAGE Scholarship in 2012 helped me move to the next level in my library career by not only providing financial assistance for completion of my Master's degree, but by also providing a travel stipend to ALA Midwinter, my first ALA conference. This opened up a world of professional development opportunities. Since then, I've made connections with librarians throughout the country and have been proud to serve as Virginia's Chapter Councilor on ALA Council.
