                                         ALA 50th Anniversary Scholarship Descriptions


ALA Century Scholarship

The Century Scholarship funds services or accommodations that are either not provided by law or otherwise by the university that will enable a student with a disability.

 

Bound to Stay Bound Book Scholarship

The Bound to Stay Bound Books (BTSB) Scholarship provides financial assistance for the education of men and women who intend to pursue an MLS or advanced degree and who plan to work in the area of library service to children.

 

David H. Clift Scholarship

An annual scholarship presented to an individual for academic excellence, leadership and evidence of commitment to a career in librarianship

 

Tom & Roberta Drewes Scholarship

A library support staff scholarship for an ALA or a library support staff currently working in a library.

 

Mary V. Gaver Scholarship

A scholarship for an individual who plans to specialize in the field of youth services.

 

Miriam L. Hornback Scholarship

A library support staff scholarship for an ALA or a library support staff currently working in a library.

 

Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship

An Annual scholarship is presented to an individual for academic excellence, leadership and evidence of commitment to a career in librarianship.

 

Christian Larew Memorial Scholarship

The LITA/Christian (Chris) Larew Memorial Scholarship is designed to encourage the entry of qualified persons into the library and information technology field, who plan to follow a career in that field, and who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a vision in pursuit of library and information technology.

 

Tony B. Leisner Scholarship

A library support staff scholarship for ALA or a library support staff currently working in a library.

 

Peter Lyman Memorial/SAGE Scholarship

A scholarship for an individual who plans to specialize in the field of new media.

 

Frederick G. Melcher Scholarship

The Frederic G. Melcher Scholarship provides financial assistance for the professional education of men and women who intend to pursue an MLS degree and who plan to work in children's librarianship.

 

Spectrum

The Spectrum Scholarship provides financial assistance for students from racial and ethnic underrepresented groups who intend to pursue a master's degree in library and information science.
