2019 Midwinter Meeting

ALCTS is pleased to present the following Midwinter events.

ALCTS Forum at Midwinter

2019 ALA Midwinter Meeting

Monday, January 28, 2019  |  10:30–11:30 a.m.  |  Upper Ballroom West, Hyatt Regency

Because the ALCTS, LITA, and LLAMA discussion about possible realignment is taking place within the broader context of a possible ALA realignment, we’re devoting the forum this year to an update from the ALA Steering Committee on Organizational Effectiveness (SCOE). Committee members Alanna Aiko Moore, Librarian for Sociology, Ethnic Studies & Gender Studies at UC San Diego; and Jim Meffert, consultant with Tecker International Consulting, will provide an update on the work of SCOE and preliminary options for remodels of ALA. We’ll have a Q&A, and participants will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the future of ALA.

ALCTS CRS CCS Forum
Diachronic Works, the IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM), and RDA: Three Perspectives

Monday, January 28, 2019  |  1-2:30 p.m.  |  Hyatt Regency Seattle, Regency A

As we move further into the world of RDA and the IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM), one of the concepts under development is a distinction between “diachronic” and “static” works. This change in how we think of resources issued over time will be important as libraries transition to the new RDA. This forum will focus on the impact of the LRM and the diachronic works on serials cataloging using RDA, related LC-PCC policy statements, and how the concept of the diachronic works relates to the practices of the ISSN Network.
