Undertaking a migration to a new ILS can be a transformative experience for a library. Libraries are looking to replace their old integrated library system with next-generation library services platforms that offer a consolidation of needed functions to accommodate the electronic-centric and highly-automated modern library. Throughout the process of selection to the day you go live, technical services will be in the thick of it and have the opportunity to lead and shape systematic change within the library.

We will discuss topics related to an ILS migration, including the selection process, preparing your data, and retooling, reorganizing and re-purposing staff to match new workflows. We will examine how the catalyst of migrating such an integral system can have fundamental effects on the workflows and staffing of technical services, and give the opportunity for participants to share their experiences, challenges, best practices, and successes.
