“Baseball’s Greatest Hit”: Hall of Fame program in Anaheim to discuss “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”

(CHICAGO)  Did you know that 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of the iconic song “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”?  To celebrate, The Campaign for America’s Libraries announces a program focused on this seventh-inning classic.

“Baseball’s Greatest Hit: The Story of ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’” will feature Andy Strasberg, co-author of a book of the same name and one of the country’s leading experts on the song.  The presentation will focus on the song’s history and its significance to the game of baseball. Strasberg, president of All-Star Corporate Marketing Enterprises, owns more than 400 recordings of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.”

The program will take place on Saturday, June 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in room 211A of the Anaheim Convention Center during the ALA Annual Conference.

The program is part of the national Step Up to the Plate @ your library® program, developed by ALA and the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The program brings together two of America’s favorite pastimes – libraries and baseball – to promote the importance of information literacy skills and increase awareness of the library as an essential information resource. For more information, visit www.ala.org/baseball.

The Hall of Fame is a Partner in The Campaign for America’s Libraries, ALA’s national public awareness campaign to promote the value of libraries and librarians.

The program is sponsored by the ALA Public Awareness Committee.
