Save the date for the Advocacy Institute at ALA’s
2008 Midwinter Meeting

CHICAGO - On Friday, January 11, 2008, the American Library Association (ALA) will be holding the Advocacy Institute during its Midwinter Meeting in Philadelphia.

Scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the day-long workshop will offer advocacy essentials such as message development and coalition building, and will feature afternoon breakout sessions on making budget presentations, crisis communications, and passing bond issues and referenda.

The Advocacy Institute offers a valuable opportunity to network and share ideas with library advocates from across the nation. All attendees will leave with the tools necessary to become better advocates for their communities and campuses.

The Advocacy Institute is open to ALA members and non-members, including those who are not registered for the ALA 2008 Midwinter Meeting. Advance registration for ALA members and non-members, available soon, will be $50, including lunch. Onsite registration is $75. For more information, please visit www.ala.org/midwinter .

The Advocacy Institute is coordinated by the Office for Library Advocacy and the Advocacy Institute Task Force of the ALA Public Awareness Committee in cooperation with the ALA Public Information Office (PIO), the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), the Chapter Relations Committee, the Committee on Legislation, and Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA).
