AASL announces Passport to Prizes lineup for Reno, Nev.

CHICAGO – The American Association of School Librarians (AASL) will once again hold its popular Passport to Prizes exhibits game for attendees at the 13th National Conference & Exhibition, October 25-28, in Reno, Nev. All conferees will receive a game card, or “Passport,” in their conference bag at registration and everyone is welcome to participate.

“The Passport to Prizes is a like a scavenger hunt on the exhibit floor,” said Allison G. Kaplan, National Conference co-chair. “Participants get a chance to ask questions and interact with the exhibitors on the ‘trail’ to get stamps for their game cards, which then get entered in a drawing for a chance to win great prizes!”

The following companies are sponsoring this year’s Passport to Prizes game: the AASL Bookstore; Brodart Co, booth 525; Gallopade International, booth 117; Mackin Library Media, booth 532; Marc4Media, booth 141; Marcive Inc., booth 414; STOR/ARTstor, booth 660; and Renaissance Learning Inc., booth 1124. Game participants must visit each of the participating companies and get a stamp in their “Passport.” Completed passports will enter in a drawing for prizes, which include a portable DVD player, iPod, digital camera, American Express gift card and more.

“Time spent on the Exhibit Floor with your ‘Passport’ adds a lot of value to the conference experience,” noted Sara Kelly Johns, AASL president. “We do our jobs better by taking advantage of a face-to-face opportunity to experience new products and innovations, ask questions and discover resources for doing our jobs better for our students. The Passport to Prizes game if a fun way to facilitate the valuable relationship between attendees and vendors.”

The prize drawing will be held on Saturday, October 27, at 2:30 pm in the AASL Bookstore in the Exhibit Hall. Winners must be present to win.

The AASL National Conference will feature three full-day and five half-day preconference workshops, several school and educational tours, more than 100 educational sessions, author events and more than 200 exhibiting companies. Registration is now open at http://www.ala.org/aasl/reno.
