American Library Association's Midwinter Meeting
The American Library Association (ALA) is the voice of America’s libraries. Generally held in January, the ALA Midwinter Meeting draws more than 10,000 leaders in the library and information industry for some 2,000 meetings and events. About 450 exhibits feature the latest in books, videos, computers and other materials and resources available to millions of library users. A snapshot of conference events and meetings is provided in the overall conference release.
As part of the conference, the ALA will announce its Youth Media Awards. Each year the ALA honors books, videos and other outstanding materials for children and teens. Recognized worldwide for the high-quality they represent, ALA awards guide parents, educators, librarians and others in selecting the best materials for youth.
The 2008 award winners will be announced Monday, January 14, starting at 7:45 a.m. ET. A live Webcast of the award announcements will be available on a first-come, fist-served basis. Award press release will be posted online by 10 a.m. EST at www.ala.org.
