American Library Association's
Midwinter Meeting
The American Library Association (ALA) is the voice of America’s libraries. Generally held in January, the ALA Midwinter Meeting draws more than 10,000 leaders in the library and information industry for some 2,000 meetings and events. About 450 exhibits feature the latest in books, videos, computers and other materials and resources available to millions of library users.
As part of the conference, the Washington State Trade & Convention Center will host the "Academy Awards" of youth literature - including the Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery and Printz awards. Recognized by families nationwide, the award medals signify the best of the best young adult and children’s books published in the previous year. The 2007 award winners will be announced Monday, January 22, starting at 7:45 a.m. PST. The press release listing all the winners will be available online by 10 a.m. PST/1 p.m. EST at www.ala.org.
