Membership: 7, including Chair with representation from Library Education and from school, public and academic libraries.
Qualifications: YALSA members who must be able to attend both the Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference of ALA.
Term of Office: Two years
Function: To create and maintain a professional development plan that responds to the needs of librarians serving young adults; to implement, evaluate and revise this plan as necessary; to maintain a liaison with the ALA Committee on Education and other related ALA units.
History: Committee name and function statement of the Education Committee was changed by YALSA Board action in January, 1999 to the above.
*As of July 15, 2009, this committee sunsetted and became an official interest group.
