ALSC Activities during the ALA 2010 Midwinter Meeting

Friday, January 15

ALSC Speed Networking, 7:30 - 9 p.m., Location TBA
The object of the evening is to meet as many professionals as you can... with Speed Networking!  Join ALSC for this fun spin on the classic speed dating structure.  Participants will be organized to move around the room, meeting new colleagues and exchanging ideas every couple of minutes.  The event is free and refreshments will be provided by Disney-Hyperion.  Please RSVP to this event by January 4, 2010.

Sunday, January 17

ALSC all committee meeting, 7:45 a.m. - Noon, location TBA
All ALSC committees will meet during this time to discuss the year's happenings.

Trip to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, 10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Don't miss this opportunity to travel to the Museum to see examples of original art by Eric Carle and the artists of the Gold Books; hear presentations by Leonard S. Marcus and Norton Juster; and enjoy time to browse the museum Shop, Galleries, Art Studio, and Reading Library.  Cost is $50 per person.  Please RSVP by Thursday, December 31.

ALA youth media awards press conference, 7:45 a.m., Location TBA
The ALA Public Information Office (PIO) coordinates the youth media awards press conference.  The press conference is traditionally held on Monday morning at 7:45 a.m. in the local time zone where the ALA Midwinter Meeting takes place.   Please visit the ALA Youth Media Awards Announcement Web page for more information about the announcement.

AASL/ALSC/YALSA joint youth divisions membership reception, 6 - 7:30 p.m., Location TBA
Join us at the Joint Youth Division Membership Reception in Boston! Co-hosted by ALSC, AASL, and YALSA, this informal gathering enables members and prospective members to network and relax after a few days of hard working the Midwinter Meeting.

  • Learn how things work in ALSC by attending a Board Meeting!  Visitors are always welcome; times and locations will be put up when they are available
