ALA/IIDA Award2008 Sponsorship opportunities These awards are co-sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). This biennial competition honors excellence in library interior design and promotes examplesof extraordinary design reflected through innovative concepts. Award winners will demonstrate excellence in aesthetics, design creativity, function, and satisfaction of the client's objectives. The Buildings and Equipment Section (BES) of the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA), a division of ALA, administers the program in partnership with the IIDA. Categories for entries are: Public Libraries, 30,000 sft. and smaller; Public Libraries, over 30,000 sft.; Academic Libraries, 30,000 sft. and smaller; Academic Libraries, over 30,000 sft.; Special Libraries, 30,000 sft. and smaller; Special Libraries, over 30,000 sft.; Outstanding Historic Renovation; Innovation in Sustainable Design; Single Space—a small project that focuses on a specific room or area in a library; Industrial Design—recognizing a custom design element that specifically responds to a library function and need; and “On the Boards”—recognizing a project currently in design phase and not under construction.
