Banned Books Week Read-Out! Chicago
The 2009 Read-Out! was another great success! On Saturday, September 27th, five of the ten most challenged authors in the past year came together to read from their books that have caused so much controversy. The authors were led by Chris Crutcher, a frequently challenged author and long-time supporter of the freedom to read, and joined by CityLit Theatre Company and the Chicago Public Library's Teen Volume Reader's Theatre Troupe. Over 300 people came out to hear the readings and meet their favorite authors. The slide-show below will give you some highlights of the event.
