Overview
The 2008 ALSC National Institute is a two and a half day learning opportunity for youth library staff, children’s literature experts, education and library school faculty members, and other interested adults. Attendees will attend two of three tracks that will focus on 1) technology and children’s services, 2) practical programming, and 3) a literature track featuring best of the best and tween reading. Additionally, attendees will participate in a Saturday morning session on a management issues. The Thursday opening general session and dinner will feature a keynote from a prominent author or illustrator. Friday will include a luncheon with a keynote speech as well as an evening reception at the Salt Lake City Library with local authors as guests. All educational programs will be held at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center.
Suggested Sponsorship Opportunities
Institute sponsors are invited to attend the Friday evening reception if they will have representatives in the area. Sponsors are able to meet and network with our attendees and will be provided with a table to display materials. Unfortunately, due to the tight timeframe and smaller size of our Institute we do not offer exhibits space.
Level 1: In-kind or monetary support up to $999.00. • Logo exposure on event signage (if commitment received by July 31, 2008) • Promotional items to put in registration packets and • Acknowledgement in registration packet material • Distribute additional promotional items at the Friday evening reception • Verbal recognition and thanks given by the ALSC President from podium at Opening General Session • Listing on ALSC-L, member electronic discussion list, as a sponsor • Listing on ALSC Web site as sponsor • Special acknowledgement in ALSC journal Children & Libraries and our newsletter ALSConnect
Level 2: In-kind or monetary support $1,000.00 and above. • All benefits listed under Level 1 • Corporate logo displayed on ALSC Web site from time of sponsorship commitment to one month post-Institute • Complimentary link to your organization’s homepage, on ALSC Web site, from time of commitment to one month post-Institute • Invitation to a representative of your company to ALSC Newbery/Caldecott Banquet VIP reception at ALA Annual Conference • Listed as a corporate sponsor of ALSC in the PowerPoint presentation at our annual flagship event, the Newbery-Caldecott Awards Banquet, which is attended by over 1,000 people

Monetary Support
Institute Opening General Session and Dinner (Thursday, September 18) - $3,000 Kick-off the official start of the Institute by sponsoring the dinner which will feature a keynote address to be delivered by a prominent author or illustrator. Sponsor will have the opportunity share a brief message about the sponsoring company and distribute materials at each seat. Signage will be posted at the event.
Friday Author Luncheon (Friday, September 19) - $2,000 Sponsor the most widely attended Institute function. Sponsor will be introduced and thanked by ALSC President. Sponsor signage will be posted outside the room.
Friday Night Reception (Friday, September 19) - $1,500 Sponsor this highly attended networking session as attendees. Your dollars will be used for transportation and refreshments. Sponsor has the opportunity to provide information at the event in the form of a table top display and will be introduced and thanked by ALSC President. Sponsor signage will be at the event.
All-Day Educational Program Tracks (Friday, September 19) – $500 (3 opportunities) Sponsor will be recognized as the track sponsor in Institute materials and verbally thanked at the opening of each track. Sponsor signage will be posted outside each session room. Educational tracks include: Track One: Technology and Children’s Services Track Two: Practical programming Track Three: Children’s literature
Saturday Breakfast (Saturday, September 20) - $1,500 Sponsor will be introduced at breakfast and have an opportunity to network with youth serving professionals. Sponsor signage will be posted outside the room.
Half-Day Workshops (Saturday, September 20) - $250 (2 opportunities) Sponsor will be recognized as the workshop sponsor in Institute materials and verbally thanked at the opening of each session. Sponsor signage will be posted outside each session room. Two to three educational workshops will focus on management issues.
Closing Session (Saturday, September 20) - $750 Leave a lasting impression on attendees during the closing session. The sponsoring company may share a brief message about their organization and distribute materials at each seat. Signage will be posted at the event.
Saturday Afternoon Optional Tours - $300 (2 opportunities) Sponsor dollars will be used for transportation buses and boxed lunches.
In-Kind Support
Institute Attendee Bags- Sponsor the Institute bag featuring your organization’s logo that each attendee receives at registration.
Institute Materials Organizer- Sponsor the 3-ring binders and tabbed inserts to hold materials each attendee receives. Your organization’s logo will be prominently featured on the binder’s cover.
Giveaway items- with company logo for placement in the registration bags. Donors will be invited to the Friday evening reception if they have representatives who will be in Salt Lake City.
