ACRL's Advertising CampaignACRL began placing a series of ads in the Chronicle of Higher Education in 2001 to promote the importance of librarians in teaching and research. Our advertising messages are aimed at campus decision-makers and profile the value and strength of librarians and libraries in meeting the knowledge demands of faculty and students. Four ads were placed in the Chronicle between April 2001 and May 2002. We will be running additional ads in the Chronicle in 2003, as well as investigating other higher education publications in which to promote academic and research librarians and libraries. Copies of the ads that have run so far are available here:
Putting the Ads to Work @ your libraryLet these ads work for you! To promote the value of libraries on your campus, you may want to:
We want to make campus decisions-makers think about their own libraries when they see these ads. ACRL feels that with the profile commercial information providers and e-publishers have established for themselves, we need to be just as visible and more persuasive. Create Your Own @ your library AdsDowloadable images are available here for your use so that you can create your own ads. For an example of how one library has adapted the ACRL ad to promote its services on campus, see Florida Atlantic University's ad here. If you have quotations about your library from faculty or students who might want to be featured in a future ACRL ad or examples of ways in which you've adapted the ads for use on your campus, please forward them to David Free, dfree@ala.org, at the ACRL office. |
