What do you value about ACRL?
ACRL is a thriving professional organization that serves as a critically important resource for academic librarians to fulfill our networking, advocacy, and professional development needs.
What do you as an academic librarian contribute to your campus?
As Research Services Librarian, I regularly provide tailored, course-integrated instruction, both face-to-face and via web conferencing, in collaboration with faculty in the disciplines I work most closely with: Composition, Education, Health & Human Development, Nursing, and Psychology. I also provide research consultations to students and faculty, individually or in small groups, both face-to-face or via web conferencing. I also provide point-of-need research assistance through our chat and email service, serving students and faculty at their point of need wherever they're located.
In your own words
I feel like I won the lottery, having landed in this wonderful career as an academic librarian at a land grant institution. In my 24 years as a librarian, I've had so many valuable opportunities to collaborate and learn from my library colleagues, as well as other faculty across campus, while contributing to our mission of teaching, research, and service/outreach. My MSU colleagues continually inspire me and motivate me to do my best for our campus community. Additionally, as Montana is a small state, population-wise, we have a close "family" of libraries of all types in Montana; we all help each other do our jobs better and to better serve Montanans.
